Vodacom launches its own GPS tracker
Vodacom announced that it has launched its very own GPS tracker device that consumers can use to track items such as their keys, phone or pets.
Called the Curve, the device features SIM support that is used to locate your items, measures 16.4mm in height and 42.1mm in width, weighs 30 grams.
It also connects to the Vodafone Smart App and it comes with a water resistance rating of IP67.
“The versatile Curve GPS tracker builds on our existing IoT platforms that provide meaningful solutions to bring a light to everyday living, whether it’s to find a misplaced school blazer, keep up with kids whereabouts, or to track if furry friends have roamed a bit further than they should,” said Vodacom’s managing executive of products and services, Johnny Dos Santos in a statement.
The SIM allows for roaming in over 100 countries globally and the device has four different tracking modes.
Users can track the device in real-time and check its location history,
If it’s unable to connect to a GPS signal, the Curve will use Wi-Fi, cellular, and Bluetooth connections to pinpoint its location.
The Curve GPS tracker is available at Vodacom stores for R749, plus a monthly subscription of R39.
