Game, Makro and Builders launch Halfway Day sale
SA consumers continue to face tough economic times, with more than one in three South Africans unable to meet their current bills and loan obligations, according to Transunion research.
It was research findings like this that first inspired Game to look for a way to provide consumers with a measure of mid-year financial relief, resulting in the launch of a Halfway Day Sale.
Last year, Game’s Halfway Day was extended to Makro following a highly successful launch of the concept in July 2022.
This year, the sale will, for the first time also include Builders. This decision follows customer feedback that highlighted significant consumer demand to improve the affordability of winter home improvement projects such as paint and roof repair projects in Summer rainfall areas.
Katherine Madley, Massmart’s Vice President of Group Marketing, notes that Massmart’s customer research clearly emphasizes the extent to which South Africans are battling to make ends meet, “It’s been a tough year for consumers who are devoting considerably more time to searching for the best possible prices for daily essentials, baby consumables, DIY products and basic appliances. Our Halfway Day sale aims to meet this need head-on.”
The duration of the sale, which will run both in-store and online (while stocks last) has also been extended from a one-day event to a weekend-long promotion.
This year’s Halfway Day sale will therefore run from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 June and will feature products such as gas heaters, paint, food essentials and laptops.
