Woolworths Food Store in Port Elizabeth reopens
Woolworths announced that its food store located in Port Elizabeth’s Access Park reopened its doors on Monday after four workers tested positive for Covid-19.
Woolworths National spokesperson Kirsten Hewett said in a statement that the staff members of the Access Park store that had tested positive for the virus are currently in isolation at home, recovering.
The PE store reported its first case of an employee testing positive for the virus on Wednesday the 14th of April. That male employee is recovering at home in isolation and the store continued trading after a ‘deep clean’.
Woolworths would be doing another forensic deep clean of the store to ensure that it is safe for its employees to work in and customers to shop.
Hewett said the safety of their employees is of the highest priority and so the Access Park store team are all at home and self-isolating for 14 days.
She added that they are working closely with the Department of Health representatives in Port Elizabeth and the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD).
