Sony's new LinkBuds to launch in South Africa
Sony announced its new LinkBuds —the company's own set of earbuds will be coming to South Africa.
The LinkBuds feature an open ring design that it says will provide an “always-on” wearing experience meaning that the user will never have to switch off.
According to the company, the earbuds are designed in a way that allows you to hear what’s around you, while also allowing you to listen to your favourite audio.
Sony added that it has used ear shape data to ensure that the earbuds are ergonomically designed.
"The newly-developed ring driver unit, has the centre of the diaphragm open for audio transparency, allowing you to clearly hear the sounds around, so you’ll always know when someone calls your name whilst on a call, or easily chat with friends while listening to your favourite songs," the company in a statement.
"Their new design makes LinkBuds the perfect companion for a range of uses, including working from home, gaming, listening to music, and more."
Sony has not only designed LinkBuds to be stylish, but also with the environment in mind. These unique earbuds and their charging case are made using recycled plastic materials and plastic-free packaging
The earphones use adaptive volume control to automatically adjust volume to the environment of the user. Meanwhile, 360 Reality Audio provides an immersive surround sound effect.
For convenience, you don’t need to tap on the buds to control them. Rather, you just need to tap near the ear.
They also have voice command functionality for using Google Assistant and Alexa hands-free.
Sony has highlighted the LinkBuds’ battery life and charging features. They have 5.5 hours of playing time, along with an extra 12 hours when using the case to recharge.
The company also stated that if you charge the earbuds for 10 minutes, you get 90 minutes of use.
In addition, IPX4 water resistance makes the LinkBuds resistant to sweat and water spills.
The LinkBuds will be available locally on 24 April with the recommended retail price will be R3 999.
