See the new MTN smart S phone worth R249
CAPE TOWN – MTN has officially launched and made it's Smart S phone available in South Africa for a low price of R249.
In November 2018, the mobile operator in partnership with Unisoc, KaiOS, and China Mobile made the smart feature phone and announced in at a press conference during AfricaCom.
The aim of the device is to allow users access to the internet without paying a large cost of money for a phone.
Powered by a KaiOS operating system, which is a lightweight Linux-based OS, the device supports WhatsApp, Facebook, and Google Assistant.
It also supports 3G, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi connectivity, has a web browser, front and rear cameras, FM radio, up to five days of battery life, dual-SIM, and microSD support (32GB).
According to MTN, the device will be bundled with inclusive data and it has a monthly allocation of 100MB of data valid for 30 days, for first six months and 1GB of WhatsApp bundles, valid for 20 days, for first six months.
“By introducing this cutting-edge device at such an affordable price, MTN will help its customers… that may have avoided traditional smartphones due to the cost to become part of the information society at an accessible price,” said the company.
MTN stated that the Smart S is available at selected MTN retail stores and major retail partners.
