Nespresso unveils new Vertuo coffee machines in South Africa
All three machines can brew up to five different cup sizes of coffee: espresso (40ml), double espresso (80ml), gran lungo (150ml), mug (230ml), and a carafe (535ml).
What makes these new machines unique is that is features a laser in the machine that reads a barcode off of the rim of the pod to identify the size of the brew, so customers won't have to manually select their cup sizes.
Additionally, it also uses this information to determine temperature, flow rate, rotational speed, and brewing time.
Meanwhile, the Centrifusion extraction uses a rotational method to brew the coffee rather than the pressure system of traditional Nespresso machines.
This also results in the machine’s ability to extract oils from the coffee and produce a crema.
While the technology sounds complex, it combines to create a simple customer experience with one button press to brew a cup of coffee after inserting the capsule.
However, the only sad part of this new machine it can only use the new branded Vertuo capsules.
Nespresso South Africa has noted that it will also bring the Nespresso app to South Africa at a later date. This will let you connect to your Vertuo machine via Bluetooth.
The Vertuo range is now available in stores, starting from R3 499 and on the Nespresso South Africa online store.
