Game and Makro have big plans for this Black Friday
Black Friday has become very popular in South Africa over the past three years and the statistics show as retail sales in South Africa beat estimates and grew the most in seven months in November as specials offered by retailers boosted trade.
This is according to Bloomberg, which stated that Statistics South Africa noted that sales increased 2.6% from a year earlier compared with a revised 0.4% growth in October
Bloomberg further noted that since 2017, November has shown the strongest month-on-month sales increase every year.
That surge was followed by a monthly contraction in 2017 and 2018 and after South Africa had the deepest power cuts yet in December, the trend may continue.
Game, which was South Africa’s most Googled retailer during Black Friday 2019 aims to capitalise on this.
Game and Makro outlets are preparing to extend their Black Friday promotions for the entire month of November.
Parent company Massmart said earlier today that Game and Makro planned to run Black Friday deals throughout November, as opposed to only releasing deals for a restricted 3 to the 5-day period from 27 November.
The retailer also noted that it plans to extend its partnership with Uber Eats, which was launched during lockdown level 5 to deliver essential goods exclusively, will be expanded for the month to include small electronics and home office essentials.
It will also be increasing staffing levels both in-store and in the delivery leg of the business will ensure a convenient and positive experience for all Game customers.
