Checkers will no longer do free grocery deliveries starting next week
Checkers has announced that it will no longer be offering free grocery deliveries to customers through its Sixty60 delivery app.
In an email sent to customers on Thursday, Checkers said that from 4 May 2020, it will charge R35 per delivery to customers who order through the Sixty60 app.
“We’ll be introducing a delivery fee of R35 from Monday 4 May 2020 – making Checkers Sixty60 the cheapest and fastest grocery delivery service in South Africa. This delivery fee applies to all orders," the company said in the email.
Checkers has continued to deliver essential products through its Sixty60 app throughout the lockdown period, offering customers the same price as in-store products.
The mobile app delivers groceries and drinks at the touch of a button and offers the same value for money for which Checkers is renowned.
Users can track the status of their order and delivery in real-time. “Sixty60 will offer unrivalled convenience because it does all the hard work for you,” said Neil Schreuder, Chief of Innovation and Strategy at Shoprite Checkers in a statement.
