Sony releases new data on next gen console, the Playstation 5
CAPE TOWN – As part of its corporate strategy presentation, Sony shed light on what fans could expect for its next-generation console which is expected to be the PlayStation 5.
Sony stated that the console will support physical game discs and will be compatible with the PlayStation VR.
The company added that the console will support backwards-compatible which will allow users to play PlayStation 4 games on the unit.
Sony also stated that the console will be powered by a new CPU and GPU, support 8K graphics and the graphics chip will support ray tracing.
In an exclusive interview with Wired, Sony stated that the next-generation console will feature a third-generation AMD Ryzen CPU with eight cores, and a custom AMD Radeon Navi GPU.
The company added that the next console will be 10-times faster than a PlayStation 4 Pro at loading complex scenes.
The gaming company is yet to confirm a launch date and pricing.
