Review: My first online experience with Woolworths during the Covid 19 pandemic

On the 1st of May 2020, I decided to use a Woolworths shopping voucher that I had received as a gift from a friend early this year just to test out and see how safe it would be to order online during the COVID 19 pandemic.

I downloaded their shopping app which you can get via the Google Play Store, iStore or the Huawei app store.

After getting the app, I registered my details and created a profile for myself and continued to shop.

The app gave me absolutely no issues, everything worked seamlessly and I was actually impressed that they had a limit on certain items which was 3 items per customers to prevent people from stockpiling.

The app has everything available such as food items, items that are on special, clothing, wine, snacks, etc.

For R200, I purchased the following items:

Once I placed my order, I received an email confirming that Woolworths has received the order and that my goods would be delivered on the 20th of May 2020.

I was also given the option to select a timeslot that I wanted the goods to be delivered, at the time of ordering there weren't many available slots open because so many people are ordering online.

On the day of delivery, Woolworths sent as SMS to phone to confirm that my order would be delivered during the time that I requested which was between 1 pm and 5 pm.

When the driver arrived at my delivery address, they rang the bell and called me via my cellphone to say that they were outside.

They stood a distance from my gate and also requested that I wore a mask before I came out to get my items.

I requested that my items would come in a box because I don't like using plastic bags but I saw afterwards that as a precaution, during this time, Woolworths stated that it will package orders in bags so that customers don't need to handle any delivery containers.

The driver placed the shopping bags inside the gate but also went the extra mile to sanitize my bags when placing them down.

I didn't have to sign any paperwork as the driver just checked the details in front of me while I stood a distance away.

The only issue with the whole process was that I had to wait a long time for the products but luckily, none of the items I bought was needed immediately.
