Pioneer Foods recalls batches of Safari peanuts and raisins

Pioneer Foods announced that it will be is recalling specific product batches sold under its Safari brand in South Africa, Botswana and Namibia.
 
The Safari products that are being recalled are the 60g Safari Peanuts & Raisins, with a best before date of 27 October 2022, and Safari 100g Raw Cashews with a best before date of 27 June 2022.
 
It follows positve testing for salmonella during a routine test at a production site in KwaZulu-Natal. No health-related complaints have been received from consumers.
 
“This limited number of affected products should never have been released into trade, and while we have not received any health-related complaints from consumers to date, we have decided to proceed to proactively recall these specific products,” said the company in a statement. 

"The production site was deep-cleaned and vector sampling was completed." 

Consumers are urged to return the products to the retailer from which it was purchased in order to receive a full refund.
 
All other Safari products remain safe for consumption.
