New Instax Pal camera and Mini Evo in Brown now available in SA
Fujifilm has announced the immediate availability of the long-awaited Instax Pal camera and Instax Mini Evo Brown in South Africa.
Announced in September, the Instax Pal is the first Instax device specialising in only taking photos. The fun, palm-sized camera weighs only 41g and is the go-to camera you want when taking out a smartphone will only spoil the moment.
While the action is happening, the Instax Pal will take the shots, connecting via Bluetooth to the Instax Pal app to transfer images (complete with an Instax frame), or to print directly on an Instax printer. These include the Instax Mini Link 2, the Instax Square Link as well as the Instax Link Wide printers.
Able to capture 4.9MP photos, the Instax Pal comes with internal storage (50 photos), while a microSD card can also be used to save images. What’s more, the Instax Pal features a variety of features for different shooting situations.
To start, the Standard mode allows a picture to be taken by pressing the shutter button at the back of the camera. This snaps regular pics or allows users to take advantage of the wide-angle lens to shoot selfies.
The Remote mode connects the camera via Bluetooth to the Instax Pal app so that pictures can be checked on the smartphone as they are taken. Finally, there’s the dynamic Interval mode that snaps photos continuously at a three-second interval, in sequences of 3, 6, 11 or 21.
The dedicated Instax Pal smartphone app further allows users to create Instax animations from different images, edit and enhance images, and share images to social media.
The Instax Pal is available in South Africa in five colours: Lavender Blue, Powder Pink, Milky White, Gem Black and Pistachio Green. As far as price, the Instax Pal retails for a suggested R1 799 incl. VAT from select retail stores and is also available online.
Instax Mini Evo now in Brown
Since its release, the flagship Instax Mini Evo has pushed the boundaries of what’s possible with Instax. As a hybrid instant camera incorporating the ability to save photos and print them, the Evo has been a global sensation.
Users are able to incorporate ten lens effects (such as Soft Focus and Light Leak) as well as ten film effects (including Monochrome and Retro).
These two types of effects can be combined freely to create 100 different shooting styles, allowing users to explore the limits of their creativity with Instax.
The dedicated Evo app can be used to connect the camera to a smartphone to enjoy features such as printing images directly off a smartphone, and saving photos printed with the Mini Evo as Instax-framed images in the smartphone for easy sharing on social media.
The Brown Instax Mini Evo continues with the same retro look-and-feel of the original, featuring a print lever to pull in order to print a photo, as well as a lens- and film dial to select all the different effects. It now also incorporates a USB Type-C charging port.
The Instax Mini Evo Brown version is available in limited quantities in South Africa, and retails in the region of R2 900 incl. VAT, alongside a matching Instax Evo case and a pack of Instax Mini film.
In related news, Fujifilm South Africa has revealed that the Instax Square SQ40 instant camera will finally be landing in South Africa during January 2024.
