Huawei unveils P60 Pro and Mate X3 flagship smartphones in South Africa

Huawei, the renowned Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has officially launched its latest flagship smartphones, the P60 Pro and Mate X3, in South Africa.

These devices offer cutting-edge features and advancements in design, photography, and durability, catering to the needs of tech and photography enthusiasts.

The Huawei P60 Pro stands out with its sleek and curved 6.67-inch 1,220×2,700 LPTO OLED display, which features an adaptable refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120Hz. This stunning display is protected by Huawei's proprietary Kunlun glass, known for its exceptional durability and fall protection that surpasses regular smartphone screens by tenfold.

Powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, the P60 Pro boasts an impressive configuration with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Notably, the device offers expandable storage through a nanoSD card, a rarity among flagship smartphones in today's market.

The standout feature of the P60 Pro lies in its rear camera system. The device is equipped with a revolutionary "Ultra Lighting" camera system, comprising a trio of lenses.

At its core, a massive 48MP main sensor with a physically-adjustable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0 provides advanced control over focus points and background blur. Accompanying this lens is a 48MP telephoto lens with the industry's largest aperture for smartphone zoom lenses at f/2.1.

Together, these lenses enable the P60 Pro to capture impressive amounts of light, even when zoomed in. Optical image stabilization is incorporated for both lenses, ensuring sharp images even in motion. Completing the rear camera setup is a 13MP ultra-wide lens with an aperture of f/2.4 and autofocus support.

For selfie enthusiasts, the P60 Pro features a 13MP hole-punch lens with an f/2.4 aperture, supporting high-resolution photos and 4K video recording at 4,160×3,120 resolution.

Alongside the P60 Pro, Huawei also launched the Mate X3, its newest foldable smartphone, in South Africa.

The Mate X3 sets a new standard for slim and lightweight design in the foldable smartphone market. Measuring just 11.08mm in thickness when folded and weighing a mere 239g, it is recognized as the world's thinnest and lightest foldable smartphone.

The device achieves this remarkable weight reduction through the use of ultra-light and strong aluminium and carbon fibre materials.

The Mate X3 also incorporates Kunlun Glass technology for its exterior and impact-resistant foldable interior screen, ensuring enhanced durability and protection.

Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the Mate X3's Ultra Vision XMAGE Camera system, featuring a 50MP Ultra Vision main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 12MP periscope telephoto camera capable of 5x optical zoom.

This combination allows for capturing stunning images with rich details and vibrant colours.

The Huawei P60 Pro and Mate X3 are now available for pre-order through the Huawei South Africa online store.

You can preorder the Huawei P60 Pro at R24,999, with the Mate X3 at R44,999. Both smartphones will be available from 1 June 2023 across the country.

Huawei is also offering several gifts to early buyers, including a Watch GT SE and FreeBuds 3i wireless earbuds, with a combined value of R6,198. Additionally, buyers will enjoy 100 days of free Huawei Care Screen Protect and three months of 200GB Huawei Cloud storage.
