Huawei to invest in the South African PC market
In the near future, Huawei South Africa will be expanding its product offering locally with the launch of PCs. In recent years, South Africa has emerged as a key market player for Huawei and the reward for that is bringing the best and most premium products in the country.
According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), the surge in remote working, coupled with consumers’ needs for their PCs to meet both home and work demands, contributed to an increase of 7% year-on-year in the MEA PC market in the second quarter of 2020.
In line with this growth, Huawei South Africa has now decided to invest in the country’s PC market, which will no doubt further bolster this sector of the tech industry, which has proven to be resilient even in the midst of a global pandemic. The launch of these new Huawei products comes at a time when South Africans are actively looking for laptops that can serve both their entertainment and work needs, at an affordable price.
Huawei has been in the PC sector since 2016, and in 2019 saw a 200% increase in shipments year-on-year. Huawei’s focus has been on bringing its smartphone technology to its PCs for seamless integration. Its innovations such as multi-screen collaboration and supercharge have helped its PC business to grow impressively over the past few years.
Huawei recently announced its global H1 business results, revealing how well the business is performing, even in the face of a global pandemic.
The company generated US$64.23 billion in revenue during this period, a 13.1% increase year-on-year, with a net profit margin of 9.2%.
Since South Africa’s March lockdown, Huawei has successfully launched six new products across the mobile, tablet and wearables categories, highlighting how the company has remained focused on its aim to offer consumers superior products, excellent service, and value for money.
Huawei is due to reveal its first PC offerings in South Africa soon, so keep an eye out for this much-anticipated product launch.
