HMD Global unveils first Nokia tablet, the Nokia T20

HMD Global announced that it will be bringing its first-ever Nokia tablet, the Nokia T20 to South Africa.

“Over the past year, we noticed the increase in hybrid working and online learning, as well as the growing use of social media, video calling platforms, and streaming services – leading to an increase in the appetite for tablets, which grew an impressive 53% in Q1 from 2020 to 2021,” said Florian Seiche, CEO of HMD Global, in a statement.

“Designed for work, learning and play, our Nokia T20 offers the classic qualities people have come to love and expect from our smartphones, in a brand-new format.”

The Nokia T20 is a 10.4-inch tablet that features a 2K (1200 x 2000 pixel) display. It has a total of two cameras — a 5MP front camera and an 8MP camera on the back.

The device is powered by an 8200mAh battery, that can provide up to 15 hours of web browsing, seven hours of conference calls, or 10 hours of video viewing, claims HMD.

It also supports 15W charging, but comes with a 10W charger in the box.

The device will also come with Android 11 and two years of OS upgrades and three years of security upgrades. It also comes with Google Kids Space to help parents manage their children’s usage of the device.

The device also features an octa-core processor and either 3GB or 4GB of RAM, depending on the configuration and includes stereo OZO speakers.

The tablet will launch alongside a range of accessories, including a charging case that delivers 18 hours of battery life, as well as a flip cover.

According to HMD Global, the device is set to hit South African shores towards the end of November or the beginning of December.
