Freeze the Moment: Capegate’s Ice Rink Returns for the Holidays
Capegate Shopping Centre is bringing the chill back in the coolest way this Winter school holiday. From 27 June to 21 July, families can lace up their skates and hit the ice as the much-loved Capegate Ice Rink returns.
This year, it’s brighter and bolder with a brand-new neon glow!
Set up under the covered Parking at Entrance 6, the CG Ice Rink offers an energetic escape from the Winter blues, turning cold days into something to look forward to. Open daily from 10:00 to 19:00, with earlier closing on Sundays, the rink invites kids aged 3 to 13 and their parents to glide, spin and laugh their way through 50-minute sessions of Winter fun.
“The Capegate Ice Rink has become a school holiday favourite, and this year we wanted to do something a little unexpected,” says Zoë Enslin, Marketing Manager at Capegate Shopping Centre.
“The neon theme brings a playful, electric energy to the experience. It’s where wobbly first steps turn into shared laughs and unforgettable family moments.”

Capegate Shopping Centre has long been more than just a place to shop. “There’s something special about watching kids step onto the ice for the first time,” adds Enslin. “They fall, they get back up, they laugh. It’s joyful, unpredictable, and exactly the kind of break children deserve during the school holidays.”

Entry is R70 per child, which includes skate hire. Children aged 3 to 5 must be accompanied on the ice by a parent or guardian, also at R70. For older kids, the rink is fully supervised by trained staff who are on hand to help skaters stay safe while they enjoy themselves. Parents can also lend support from the side-lines if they prefer to stay off the ice.
