Fitbit launches new Charge 5
Fitbit announced that it has launched its latest fitness tracker — the Charge 5, which the company notes is its most advanced tracker to date.
The wearable includes several features such as tracking sleep, heart rate, stress, skin temperature, SpO2 and also includes an EDA sensor and ECG app.
It also comes with six months of Fitbit Premium included for free for new and returning members.
While the EDA and ECG features will only be available in certain regions, the Fitbit website confirms that South Africa is included in the rollout.
Depending on which features you use, the Charge 5 gives you up to seven days of battery life.
The device features a thinner and slimmer design and comes with 20 workout modes, exercise recognition, and the ability to estimate your VO2 max.
The device also gives users the ability to view notifications and customize the watch face. Android users will also be able to use the quick reply feature on the device.
At the Charge 5’s launch, Fitbit also promoted new features for its Premium app subscription. This includes the new Daily Readiness Score, which helps users assess whether they should use the day to recover instead of exercising further.
The Fitbit Charge 5 will have a recommended price of R3 999 in South Africa. Accessories such as watch straps will start from R599.
When it launches, the wearable will be available from Makro, Cape Union Mart, Incredible Connection, Takealot.com, Hi Online, Dischem, Superbalist, Total Sports, Sportsmans Warehouse, and FNB connect.
