Samsung launches new Galaxy A series devices

CAPE TOWN – Samsung on Wednesday at a launch event in Hong Kong as well as a local launch in Johannesburg, South Africa unveiled new devices to the A-series range. 

Speaking at an event in Johannesburg, Samsung Africa chief executive Sung Yoon said that Samsung's main focus for the A series is Design, Camera and Battery. He added that the Galaxy A brings a bezel-less design, versatile camera and long-lasting battery. 

Over the past few months, Samsung launched the Galaxy A10, A20, A20e, A30, A50 and then it added the A70, A80 and A2 Core.

This means that altogether there are eight smartphones in the A-series range. 

The A-series range can be divided into 2 sections which are the cheaper range and your premium range. 

The A2 Core up until the A30 is seen as your cheaper range and the A50 up until the A80 is your premium devices. 

Out of all eight of the devices, the cheapest option is the Galaxy A2 Core which will cost you R1,299.

The device features 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage (with microSD card slot), a 5.0-inch display with 960×540 resolution, and an 8MP rear camera.

It also runs on Android Go, has a 5MP selfie camera, a 2600mAh battery, is dual SIM and supports LTE networks.

For the premium range, the most expensive device is the Galaxy A80 which will cost you R12,999.

The A80 features a 6.7" Infinity-U Display with a unique slide-up rotating triple camera that flips so that it can be used for selfie and rear-end images. 

The device also has 8GB RAM,128GB storage, 3700 mAh battery, Fast charging and has an In-display fingerprint scanner.
