ZTE to launch first-ever phone with under-display camera

Chinese technology giant ZTE announced that it will be mass producing the first consumer smartphone to feature an under-display camera.

The device that will feature this technology will be called the ZTE Axon 20 5G which is set to launch on 1 September 2020.

ZTE’s Axon 20 5G will launch in China and the company has not yet mentioned whether they plan to roll out the device to other markets.

However, ZTE isn’t the first company to talk about an under-display camera — a number of phone manufacturers have been pursuing the technology, including Oppo and Xiaomi.

In its press release announcing the device, not much other detail was provided by the company.

The company only stated that the device will have 5G support and its notable under-display camera. As such, the phone won’t have a camera notch or cutout on its display.

We will have to wait until September for more information.
