YouTube Gaming loses independent platform, now found on main homepage

CAPE TOWN - Google has announced that all gaming content will be featured on its main Youtube homepage because it will be closing down the independent YouTube Gaming platform on 30 May.

Google said in a statement: "We want to continue to build a stronger home for the gaming community that thrives on YouTube, not just the YouTube Gaming app."

"After May 2019, we’ll retire the YouTube Gaming app and focus our gaming efforts across YouTube."

According to Google, over 200 million users already visit the main YouTube app to engage with gaming content and that YouTube Gaming app users can merge their subscriptions across YouTube to continue to enjoy gaming content on the main YouTube app.

The gaming-specific homepage within its main platform can be accessed here.
