See Sony's new Playstation 5 specs with games

Sony has finally shown fans the long-awaited reveal of its new PlayStation 5 hardware design during its PlayStation Future Of Gaming Event.

The PS5 console includes a white-and-black design to match the new controller that will be included in the box and will be available in two versions which are a 4K Blu-ray drive and a pure Digital Edition.

Sony also confirmed a handful of features for the new console such as support for 8K graphics, 4K graphics at a 120Hz refresh rate, 3D audio, a 4K UHD Blu-Ray drive, custom AMD GPU of 10.28 Teraflops and a very impressive SSD that will provide 825GB of storage and 5.5GB/s of performance.

Sony has also created a number of accessories for the PS5, including a DualSense charging station, a new HD camera, a Pulse 3D wireless headset, and a media remote.

The company noted that the PS5 can be placed vertically or horizontally underneath a TV or monitor and the device includes vents for heat dissipation, with USB-A and USB-C ports at the front.

Earlier this year on the 7th of April, the company first introduced the PS5’s DualSense controller which features adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and a new create button that’s designed to share gameplay content.

Like the company’s DualShock controllers, the D-pad and buttons will remain on the top half of the controller while its two analogue sticks will be on the bottom. The DualSense will also have a centre-mounted touchpad and a redesigned light bar that sits on each side of the touchpad.

According to Sony, the PS5 will also support the majority of the more than 4,000 PlayStation 4 titles that exist today.

Here are a few titles that were mentioned during the announcement:

  • Spiderman

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is launching on the PS5 when the console is scheduled to launch.

 Spider-Man: Miles Morales is the follow-up to 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man, which was a PS4-exclusive.

  • Resident Evil 8

Capcom’s next entry in the popular Resident Evil franchise is coming to PS5. Like RE7, this one is played in the first-person perspective and the game is set a few years after Resident Evil 7, we return to Ethan and Mia, who now live free from their past nightmares until tragedy strikes.

  • Grand Turismo 7

Sony showed off GrandTurismo 7, the next instalment in the driving game franchise. However, not much was said about the game but a map was shown to be used in the game’s campaign mode as well as extended scenes from inside the cockpit of one of the cars.

  • FIFA 21

FIFA 21 is expected to be released on both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 in 2020, with both next-generation consoles due to launch during the "holiday" season.

  • Grand Theft Auto V

Rockstar announced that GTAV is coming to the PS5. It’s the game’s second remaster, the PS5 version is said to have impressive visuals for the game’s release for 2021. Sony said that PS Plus on PS5 users will get GTAV for free when the game launches.
