SAA launches a new Johannesburg to Guangzhou route
CAPE TOWN - South African Airways announced that it will be introducing direct flights from Johannesburg to Guangzhou, South China this year, 2019, from 19 September.
SAA flight bookings will be offering flights catering to both business and holiday travellers with flights to Guangzhou, in the Guangdong province.
The direct SAA flight from Johannesburg will be the only one between South Africa and Guangzhou, with the shortest non-stop travel time between the two regions with a flight time of approximately 13 hours and 40 minutes.
SAA chief executive Vuyani Jarana said in a statement: "The decision to launch this direct service between Johannesburg and Guangzhou means we remain on track in executing our strategy to transform SAA into a fit for the future airline that will operate both efficiently and competitively."
The national carrier announced that there will be three new flights per week to Guangzhou in addition to the four flights per week that depart for Hong Kong.
SAA’s fleet of Airbus A340-300 aircraft will operate both the Guangzhou and Hong Kong routes.
The schedule includes morning arrivals in Johannesburg and afternoon arrivals in Guangzhou which will then connect to 20 other cities in China.
