Pick n Pay Clothing showcases trans-seasonal wear trend at The Cape Town Resort Collections

Pick n Pay Clothing yesterday showcased its trans-seasonal range in the 2022 Cape Town Resort Collections fashion show at the V&A Waterfront.

The trans-seasonal dressing is popular when seasons overlap, and works key fashion staples into a wardrobe, regardless of season or temperature.

Hazel Pillay, General Manager at Pick n Pay Clothing, says this trend is highly popular here as South Africa heads into Autumn, but continues to experience some of its hottest days in March. Speaking at the event on Sunday, Pillays said, “This is the trend Capetonians can easily buy into as Cape Town is known to often experience four seasons in one day.

The Resort Collections feature designers showcasing collections that are transitional and aimed at clients travelling abroad to different seasons to South Africa.

Pick n Pay was the only chain retailer to join the runway line-up and offer everyday, affordable items of clothing. “We curated our outfits to show customers how ‘simple’ everyday items can be transformed to the latest fashion trend, without breaking the bank.”

Pick n Pay Clothing showcased its trans-seasonal range currently in stores which included lightweight shirts, denim, and easy comfortable chic dresses.

The featured range was underpinned by a natural colour plate, as well strong blacks and white theme. The collection featured other strong colour trends at the moment including tye-die and ombre.

Pillay says that trans-seasonal dressing is particularly kind on budgets as a sustainable and affordable fashion trend.

“Customers only need to invest in a handful of key items of clothing that can then be styled for different occasions and seasons throughout the year. It is also possible to build this type of dressing with favourite wardrobe essentials.”

Pick n Pay Clothing provides their top 3 tips to embrace the latest fashion trans-seasonal wear

1.     Layering is key for transitional dressing. This type of dressing can be built around favourite wardrobe essentials, such as a long sleeve tee, lightweight jacket, the perfect pair of jeans, skirts or dresses. An example of PnP items that can be adjusted and layered throughout the season include the tiered midi dress that can be worn with stockings and a PU biker jacket, or covered with knitwear-cardigans/shawls.

2.     Use accessories: Blanket scarves are perfect for layering and you can always take it off during the day when the temperature gets warmer.

3.     Comfortable but cool footwear: Dressing for work or the weekend has never been easier as a great pair of sneakers completes any look.

Pillay says their full Autumn and Winter range for the whole family will be in stores from March, and that this includes some popular items for trans-seasonal wear too, including lightweight fleece, knitwear and the perfect puffer jacket for those cold evenings.

“We are always increasing our local production and manufacturing of clothing and this lets us capitalise on the latest fashion trends for our customers. Our 2022 Autumn / Winter range will be our the largest locally-made range to date with 45% being made in South Africa,” concludes Pillay.
