MultiChoice launches new DStv products including uncapped wifi options

MultiChoice announced in an online event that it will launch a list of new offerings for customers.

The company is yet to announce the official launch date of these products but we have compiled a list of what you can look forward to.

Here is the list:

1. Add Movies

The Add Movies product will allow customers of selected packages to access M-Net’s top three movie channels for an additional R99 per month.

Subscribers to the DStv Compact Plus, Compact, Family, Access, EasyView, and Indian packages can access this new offering, which offers them access to M-Net Movies 1, M-Net Movies 2, and fliekNET.

This is available to both new and existing subscribers and will provide DStv subscribers with hundreds of new movies every year that would previously have only been accessible to Premium subscribers.

MultiChoice also confirmed that Premium-exclusive pop-up channels will also become available to Add Movies subscribers when they are available.

These three movie channels are described as follows:

  • M-Net Movies 1 delivers family-friendly, animation, comedy, romance, and award-winning drama movies on channel 104
  • M-Net Movies 2 delivers the latest adrenaline-packed action, sci-fi, fantasy, and thriller movies on channel 106
  • fliekNET, which was previously a pop-up channel, will now become a permanent channel and showcases locally-produced blockbuster movies, classic favourites, and a variety of Afrikaans film formats on channel 149.

MultiChoice added that it will be shutting down BoxOffice, as films available from BoxOffice are not yet available on these movie channels.

MultiChoice notes that this new decoder will offer high-quality satellite broadcasting as well as integration with popular streaming services.

This decoder has built-in Wi-Fi for Internet connectivity while offering the same features as the previous-generation Explora decoder.

The Explorer Ultra will also bring a new, unified home screen that will showcase content from DStv, Showmax, Box Office, and selected streaming apps.

It also comes with a new remote control that allows quick access to these third-party streaming apps.

3. The DStv Streama

The DStv Streama set-top box will allow subscribers to view DStv content and shows from other streaming services without a satellite dish.

The DStv Streama device connects to the Internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable and connects to your TV through HDMI.

“The DStv Streama offers all of the best content customers have come to enjoy, including an array of sport, entertainment, news and kids’ content,” MultiChoice said.

Customers will need a DStv login to use a DStv Streama, but will not need an active DStv subscription, MultiChoice said.

4. DStv Streaming Service with internet packages

Last but not least, the company will also be launnching its own standalone DStv streaming service which enables customers to sign up for DStv and stream content exclusively through its online platform.

It will partner with networks and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to offer bundled packages that combine uncapped Internet with streaming packages such as this one.

“DStv will soon be partnering with telecommunications and Internet Service Providers to offer bundled packages which combine the benefits of uncapped internet connectivity, with access to the package of your choice, at incredible value prices,” MultiChoice said.

“It’s a personal DStv viewing experience, whenever you like and on a smart device of your choice.”
