Honor launches new Magic 3 Series range

Honor has announced its first flagship smartphone called the Magic 3 series since it split from former parent company Huawei.

"Since its split from Huawei last year, HONOR has embarked on a new path that will see it become an iconic global tech brand. It will also provide a high-efficiency hub and build a comprehensive high-quality service network to cater to the demands of modern consumers," said the brand in a press statement.

The new Magic 3 series consists of three phones, the Magic 3, Magic 3 Pro, and Magic 3 Pro Plus. 

As part of this new journey, it has confirmed the implementation of Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 888 Plus 5G capable processor in its new flagship HONOR Magic3 Series. The adoption of this advanced technology will deliver more transformative and innovative experiences to users.

Honor notes that, unlike previous devices, their new phones, when they launch globally, will come with Google’s apps and services.

The Magic 3 Series has a battery capacity of 4,600mAh and supports wired fast-charging up to 66W, has an IP54 rating, comes with a Snapdragon 888 processor and comes with a  6.76-inch 1344p OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It also come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

On the Pro and Pro Plus, there’s wireless charging up to 50W with support for reverse wireless charging, as well as an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

The Magic 3 Pro and Pro Plus are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 Plus processor and also comes with a 6.76-inch 1344p OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. 

Rear cameras vary significantly between the three phones. On the standard Magic 3, there are three cameras: a 50-megapixel 1/1.56-inch main camera, a 13-megapixel 1/1.31-inch ultrawide, and a 64-megapixel monochrome camera.

The Magic 3 Pro adds a 64-megapixel telephoto camera with a 1/2-inch sensor, 3.5x optical zoom, and OIS. Finally, the Pro Plus increases the size of the main 50-megapixel sensor to 1/1.28-inches and the resolution of the ultrawide sensor to 64 megapixels.

The Magic 3 Pro comes with the same configuration of RAM and storage as the standard Magic 3 but the Honor Magic 3 Pro Plus, comes with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

Honor also noted that the Magic3 Series is the first-ever IMAX® ENHANCED smartphone. It also comes with AI film effects to enable professional movie-grade colour solutions. And the first AI Film Workflow phone.

The Honor Magic 3 and Magic 3 Pro will come to South Africa but the date and prices are yet to be announced.
