Asus launches new Flow X13 laptop and XG Mobile, an external graphics card in SA

Asus announced that its new gaming laptop, the ROG Flow X13  and the XG Mobile, the company's external GPU will be available to purchase in South Africa. 

This new and first of its kind convertible gaming laptop, which features a 360-degree hinge that allows users to use it in tablet mode was announced as part of the company's 2021 lineup of ROG gaming products on 12 January at the world's biggest technology show CES. 

“It is the start of a whole new category. We saw a demand in extra powerful 13-inch laptops a while ago and decided to combine ultimate gaming performance with the best ultra-portability you could ever imagine," said Benjamin Yeh,  ASUS’ East EMEA General Manager PC & Gaming, said in a statement. 

The Flow X13 laptop is designed to be ultra-slim and ultraportable as it features a 13-inch body and weighs only 1.3kg, with a thickness of only 1.58cm. 

Customers can choose between a 4K display or 120Hz Full HD display for the device’s touchscreen.

For its built-in graphics card, it uses up to a GeForce GTX 1650. Meanwhile, for the CPU, you can get up to an 8-core AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS.

Next up, the newly announced ROG XG Mobile, an external GPU weighs 1kg and measures 155mm x 208mm x 29mm.

The device comes with a custom PCIe 3.0 x8 interface is also faster than Thunderbolt 4 and has a built-in 280W AC adapter, can house up to a GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card and has additional I/O ports.

The company notes that the AC adaptor that powers the XG Mobile can also power up the Flow X13 when in use.

The Flow X13’s price will start at R34 999 in South Africa, while the Flow X13 + XG Mobile bundle will cost R69 999.

The devices will be available to purchase at Evetech and Incredible Connection from February 2021.
