Released in the early 2000s, BlackBerry smartphones are manufactured, marketed and sold globally under a brand licensing agreement with TCL Communication.

In recent times, the brand has been experiencing a decline in sales but are currently sold in over 160 countries throughout North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacifica.

In 2018, the brand made a comeback to South Africa after TCL Communication launched the newest BlackBerry smartphone, the all-touch BlackBerry Motion.

The company has also since ended its operating system called BlackBerry 10 and devices will now run on Android.

BlackBerry is known for products such as smartphones, tablets, and other services such as Blackberry Messenger (BBM).
