The Crazy Store was established in 1995 and is one of South Africa’s largest discount retailer. The chain started out as a R10 store in Edenvale, which was run by the Broomberg brothers, Ryan and Glen . They then opened their second store in Parow, Cape Town in 1996.

Rapid growth ensued and by the end of 1996 they had established over 40 stores countrywide. In 1999 the chain was bought out by Melbro and massive expansion continued. Today, there are more than 240 stores nationwide, making The Crazy Store one of the biggest discount retail outlets in South Africa.
