Boardmans started out as a hardware store called Sam Newman’s. Tom Boardmans then bought two retail outlets in Cape Town in 1982 and the first South African Home store came to life, they are now considered one of South Africa’s original home stores. Boardmans was then purchased by Edcon from the Pick n Pay group in 2004.

They now have over 25 stores in prime locations throughout South Africa.

Boardmans offers loyalty cards to their customers. These ‘Thank U’ cards allow customers to earn points on each purchase, and people can then use these points to qualify for discounts. The Boardmans also offers a wedding registry function on their website which links through to the Edgars registry platform.
